Proofreaders Area

AlphaOmega Bookstore & Publisher

ClickBank BrandsWhat are proofreaders? Proofreaders are volunteers who proof various literary projects. The process is like beta testing. The only advantages of being a proofreader is the attribution in any published work the proofreader was involved in and getting to read material before it is published and hopefully becomes terribly famous. The proofreader pays no money nor receives any. Proofreaders do get free copies of the items listed under "proofreader's" in the Order Form. In the future, if contracted artists want to avail themselves of our proofreaders, we will put the parties concerned together. The general rules to apply and do the proofreading will apply in any case.

How do you become a proofreader? Email the Proofreaders Manager and provide your name, email address, and why you want to be a proofreader. Please do not apply if you are not going to devote some time to this. All proofreaders must sign and abide by a nondisclosure agreement. All that means is that you will NOT tell anyone about anything you read, study, proofread, see, etc. until AFTER the work is published.

Duties: You will read drafts of artists works providing input as to content, spelling, grammar, and so on. Anything to help improve the artwork is what the artist is looking for. For artwork that is not of a literary nature, you may have to view graphics/art, listen to music, test software applets, and anything that can be published electronically on the Internet. You will share your constructive criticisms with the artist via email or an agreed upon medium. You will continue this process until publication or either party terminates the relationship via this company. You will most likely proof artwork many times through numerous drafts. Again, no one makes any money. The only allowed reward is an attribution in the published work. Professional copy-editors might want to become official sponsors, as your expertise is useful to artists on a professional basis. Proofreaders who are not industry professionals are much valued for their input, because they represent the target audience/customer.

Communicate: You may get to talk with authors as literary/art projects progress. Most likely it will be via email. Please keep the topic to your proofreader duties. The authors have precious little time and much too many deadlines. Your understanding is appreciated. Any agreement between parties beyond the nondisclosure agreement results in no liability to this company and subsidiaries.

How do proofreaders get latest versions? New proofreaders will be provided the material as to the prior agreement between the bookstore and new proofreaders. Existing proofreaders should get updated material periodically but not later than every two months. If that has not happened, contact us please.
