Reflecting Pool, a poetry collection by Anita Wilson

"Reflections in a Pool"

Life is made of memories
From the time that we are born
Memories of our life's past
Are seen as reflections in a Pool

There are wonderful happy memories
Others are filled with pain and sorrow
Some are moments of great joy
And also times of deep despair

We are made of all those memories
And all those moments in our life
Tempered like steel by adversity
Made stronger by great joy

Those who can accept every memory
And can learn from every moment
Will see themselves as reflections
Reflections in a Pool

"Mothers Lullaby"

Go to sleep in my arms my darling
Dream of all the things you like
Close your eyes sweet little baby
You are my hearts delight

I hope your life is always sunny
Succeed in everything you do
Let happiness be your companion
May joy be a friend to you

Let it only rain gentle showers
Storm clouds soon pass away
Let your road be lined with flowers
May you be loved every day

Rest your head against my shoulder
Feel safe with your mother here
Hear the song I am singing to you
How I love you, little dear

"A River"

High in the snowcapped mountains
I start as rivulets of melting snow
Trickling over pebbles and rocks
Creating running little streams

Cascading over rocks and boulders
Tumbling down as a waterfall
Making swirling whirlpools below
Creating a rainbow colored mist

Rippling amidst fern covered banks
Through the tall ancient forest trees
Covered by their deep green shade
Making patterns on my water

Wandering through the meadow lands
Tall reeds growing on either side
Flowing along majestic and slow
Heading towards the open sea

I am a river, ever present and ageless
Renewing myself with melting snow
Still joining with the mighty ocean
After humanity has long gone

*************************************

"Alone"

Going through a shadow land
Grey mist swirling all around
Solitude the only guest
Lost and wanting to be found

Listening for another voice
To break the silence that is there
Looking for a single star
To light the way to anywhere

Seeking for another hand
To reach out with a friendly touch
Wandering silently along
Maybe hoping for to much

Wishing for another's ears
To hear her lost and lonely cry
Longing for another soul
For someone's footsteps passing by

Walking through a shadow land
Wishing something could be done
Hoping for some company
Knowing, she is still alone

*************************************

"Happiness"

A crystal clear stream
Filled with small fish
Rainbow flashes of pure delight
Is that what happiness is?

A distant mountain view
A pleasure looking at this
Snow glittering in the sunlight
Is that what happiness is?

Watching an early sunrise
Birds are singing with bliss
Another day, a new beginning
Is that what happiness is?

Sitting quietly in the twilight
Watching fire clouds line the sky
The orange sun slowly sinking
As another day goes by

I think happiness is in ourselves
Contentment in our inner mind
Seeing the wonder all around us
That is the happiness we find
