Welcome to the CoF FAQ page.
Here we should be able to answer any questions you may have about the CoF
Webring. If not you should feel free to email any of the
staff.
Q- How do I join CoF Webring?
A- Go
here to find out how.
Q- What is the CoF Webring about?
A- Go
here to find out
more.
Q- If I would like to change my information for
the webring, how do I do that?
A- You go to the CoF Edit
Page and there you will find a form to enter your site ID# and your password.
Do that and you can change your information to the new or current information.
Forgot your site ID#? Click on RingIndex
and find your site ID#. You will need to logon WebRing first for
the last link to work.
Q- How important is it to put the code in exactly
the way it is sent to me?
A- If
you are not using the new WebRing Navbar, extremely, as the CoF ring code may not be
changed except for its position or size. The smallest size of Fluffy the dragon
is a first class stamp. You must have Fluffy the dragon in the ring code. And
the graphic must load from your web site not the CoF home pages. The link back
to the ring home page is http://RunesofAo.com/roa/circle.html.
Q- Do I have to be a computer genius to put a ring
on my page?
A- No, not at all. You copy the code you like from
this site and change the site id #s and email addy ensuring that you link to the
ring graphic from your site not this site.
Then you just "cut and paste" the code onto your page. But don't
worry, if you have any problems or questions always ask. Either the RingMaster
or another member is always very quick to help. The link back to the ring
home page is http://RunesofAo.com/roa/circle.html.
Q- I use an "editor" to create my pages
and they keep telling me that my HTML code for the ring is wrong. What do I do?
A- If
you are not using the new WebRing Navbar, first take a quick look at the code that you
have been installing. It's common to miss something or type a letter in wrong.
After doing that, ask for help from the ringmaster! Different
"editors" do different things. It's hard to make a code that will
work for everyone. The codes are generally set to work with the most popular
ways to write pages. Unless you're using a very old "editor" or one
that is maybe new to the market, there shouldn't be a problem. The link
back to the ring home page is http://RunesofAo.com/roa/circle.html.
Q- How do I pick a password?
A- Your password should be one that you can
remember easily. It works sometimes to use the same password that use for other
things. Either way you need to put it in a place where you can find it and it
is safe. Please do not use any password to important things like e-mail, ISP,
banking software, etc.
Q- Is there a limit to the number of webrings that
I can belong to?
A- No, but remember, the more that you have on a
page the slower your page will load. Three seems to be a good number of rings
to put on a page. The page loads at a good speed. This is important because
people will get tired of waiting for your page to load if it takes a long time.
You can have multiple pages, just mark them clearly so people can navigate
through them with ease.
Q- Why is this ring so strict with its rules to
get into the ring and stay in the ring?
A- Our primary purpose is to showcase our member's home pages and drive visitors to those websites. If any site does
anything to make it hard for the visitor to move onto the next site in the
ring, then we must take action. For
more details start at the Join Ring.
