Awards, the Future,
& the Millennium

This is where you will see and/or read about the future of us and ours including sparks of the millennium along with our three awards. Occasionally, you will get to see discussions about future works that are in the planning stages. Would you believe that the Maniac has five other novels outlined? All in a millennia far removed from the present. Also there are the awards that the Maniac is giving out, which are called Maniac's Future Awards, Alien Abduction Awards, and Millennium Awards. The text links for the awards pages are below. Checkout Maniac's Gallery, which will change occasionally when he learns how to NOT destroy photos. Lastly, there are digressions on the meaning of the future and the millennium in general. Make our future happier; please sign our guestbook at least before the end of this millennium [2000 or 2001, we aren't sure] [sign or view] (if you sign our guestbook leaving your email and web address, you may get an award and a prize).

  • I hope you like the pictures. Ebony took them with our very cheap camera. That is why they aren't very high quality. I blame everything on the cats. They do the same to me. It all depends on who gets to the keyboard first. I have a wonderful family. My daughter and her three sons plus two daughters. Jeff, my oldest son with his three sons and one daughter plus his wonderful Jessica. Jeff sent a bunch of pics worth looking at. My youngest son is married again and even might have children, but I don't know. He doesn't bother to tell me these things very often. He's my youngest. Currently, that makes 10 or more grandchildren! Additionally, my brother sent me some photos of his family which are included at the link above. Thanks, Krash! Some recent photos of us cats too!
  • Book Three: The Twins of the Dark Star © 2001. Coming soon to bookstores near you. I always wanted to say that. Of course, at the pace I work, it could be the next century. Still, I write at least one line a day or try my damnedest. The short story outlining the major plot and theme is done. Subplots come next, but most of my attention is on The Mountains of Ao © 2004. I always take time to plot the future of my series. I am always looking for new ideas. I don't pay well. Actually, not at all, but I will attribute the idea to you. Better yet, you keep your great idea, and I will help and cheer you from the sidelines.
  • What is the future of mankind? When will we meet the inevitable life from within our galaxy or from another distant galaxy? When will we be able to travel to other universes, even dimensions? Some television shows propose one future. Babylon Five, Voyager, Deep Space Nine, and others might come close. After all, didn't the original Star Trek series introduce us to 3.5 inch diskettes? We must welcome the unknown and forever explore the infinite frontiers of our particular universe.
  • The future is only limited by our imaginations. I write Science Fiction, Fantasy, and poetry, but I struggle to keep up with the advance age of this and that. Technology can and does overwhelm one. Writing about the future puts you on guard to be able to stay ahead of existing and emerging technologies. Even if you make it up as you go, you still have to imagine something or someone that doesn't already exist. Look at cloning, it once was SF. Now it is Science Fact. Still, even that subject is full of stories and controversies. I find it all exhilarating to try to stay ahead of Science Fact. Okay, I've babbled enough.
  • I have seen the future of the Internet blossom at such a rapid pace. First there was CIS and AOL. You know, CompuServe and America On Line. Then the dormant Internet seemed to explode out of no where. Now we even have Intranets. The opportunities are endless, and the fun is just beginning. This website is an example. I would never have figured exposing my work in this manner just a couple of years ago. Now it has a growing importance in my overall strategy for running my business, dealing with fans, and tweaking the publishers and agents. The future of the Internet in our lives will grow into every aspect of our daily routines. We will wonder why we have TVs and cellular telephones. The next paragraph will deal with immortality.
  • Wouldn't you really like to live forever? It seems reasonable that human science will eventually figure out how to combat aging and dying of old age. Yet that brings with it more problems. What age would you like to be and stay at? What would be the retirement age? What would your motivation be to get up in the morning? I can say to myself looking at this thing from my viewpoint at this present time that YES I want to live forever. The age I am now is fine. The government can continue to pay me my military retirement forever. I don't mind. I think I would always have something to motivate me, and the excitement of each day would be worth waking up for. Think of all the books I could write. And I could watch hockey every year for eternity. Do you really want to live forever?
  • Pasha, the friendly cat, gave us this very nice picture. Look closely, and you will see flying dragons across the face of a woman.
Click to go see Pasha's place.
  • Remember the original Star Trek? Spock would use those three-inch wafers to store and retrieve data from his computer console. Now look at us viewing the three and a half inch diskette as old technology. What is the future of computers? The technology grows so fast that today's new computing marvel is ancient tomorrow. Remember HAL and SAL from the 2001 and 2010 movies? I think we will be pretty darn close to those types of computers in those years. The possibility of exchanging our frail, failing bodies with computerized machines is not so far-fetched anymore. I am ready for my super, robotic body. Maybe we can really live forever!
  • The millennium has stirred up a lot of talk and print. Yet I find time is still a gimmick that man made up. There is no time. We just exist from one moment to the next. Who is to say if it is from past to present to future? In that order? Or no order at all? Or [even more likely] if it really exists at all? Time is a convenient way for man to explain self-awareness. We always come up with concepts to explain concepts we do not understand or fear even if those concepts never existed in the first place. What did he say? So to celebrate this total confusion, there is now the Millennium Awards. To be eligible you must first win one of the following four awards: [Kitty GreyCat's Site of the Month Awards] [Order of The Rose Awards] [Maniac's Future Awards] You must write "Millennium Awards" in the comment's block of the application form. After you win one of the four awards, the secret Millennium Committee decides whether you win. Many are picked but few are chosen. Here are the Millennium Awards Winners! So let's give the millennium hell, because it really doesn't exist anyway!
  • Just recently an article was published about microscopic switches. That doesn't sound too futuristic till you examine what the switches were made out of. Would you believe molecules? Yep, the basic stuff of life. Now you ask, so what? Let us think a minute about what makes up computers and all electronics? The most basic component of all electronics and even computers is the switch. Now if you have molecules for switches, then you will have microscopic electronic devices. The age of microscopic robots is very near. Remember in Star Trek those nifty nanobots? Uh, oh, Star Trek predicts the future again! Science Fiction becoming science fact happens every day right under our noses. Amazing, isn't it?
  • Expect a bright and fun future, if you sign our guestbook. In various places you will see mention of a prize and an award given to those who leave their email and website addresses in the guestbook. We select a certain number of guestbook entries each month to receive the Alien Abduction Awards and a free artwork from AlphaOmega Bookstore & Publisher. We select those entries that have entered a valid email address, a website address that contains an awards section, and quality answers to our questions as well as interesting and fun comments. Unfortunately, we cannot do this for more than five or six guestbook signings. So please make your guestbook entries accurately plus provide answers to our questions and write comments that will attract our attention.
